How do I clear search history?


It is no wander people are greatly bothered when their computer just records everything they have been searched for. While search history is meant to me beneficial for users it can violate users privacy, and very often users are not even aware what their computer secretly records searched history without explicitly asking for their approval. This section explains how to clear search entries (search history) that you did in various search engines, like google or yahoo. Please note that there are manu activity traces that your computer records and search history is just one of them, to clear other recorded items like typed urls, cache, cookies follow the links on the "How To" menu, or download our free Clear History software, or for even more power use one of the recommended programs that will do all the job for you, like Shadow Professional or Privacy Eraser Pro.

 

To clear search history from your computer do the following :

 

    In Internet Explorer:

     

  • Go to the Tools menu
  • Select Internet Options
  • Go to the Content tab
  • Click on Auto Complete to open a settings window
  • Click on Clear Forms option and your search history is deleted
  • If you want to completely disable search history recording uncheck Forms

 

    In Firefox:

     

  • Go to the Tools menu
  • Select Clear Private Data
  • Make sure Saved Form and Search History is checked. Uncheck others as you wish.
  • Click on Clear Private Data Now and your search history is cleared.

 

    Clear History from Google toolbar (IE) :

     

  • Click the Google logo to access the drop-down menu
  • Select the “Clear Search History” option and your search history is cleaned.
  • To disable search history completely select Options than Un-check the box
    next to “Drop-down search history

 

    Clear History from Google toolbar (IE) :

     

  • Click the Googlebar logo
  • Select the “Clear Search History” option
  • To disable search history recording select “Googlebar Options”- Miscellaneous tab,
    and in “Save History” section, uncheck “Preserve the search history across browser sessions”
